029 Tanya Aubeeluck

On today's episode I am pleased to introduce an enthusiastic and focused clinical pharmacist, Tanya Aubeeluck. Tanya is a firm believer of a professional 5-year plan and the belief that life has a way of showing you different paths. She started out as a community pharmacist but behind the scenes she was developing her goals in order to navigate into a clinic based or General Practice based career pathway.

Part of this transformational process involved undertaking a management role in community pharmacy to assess her skillset in leadership which she thoroughly enjoyed. During this role, she stumbled across an opportunity to design a bespoke service for a neuro-rehabilitation centre. This involved reviewing medication related policies, undertaking audits, cost saving interventions, and going on ward rounds weekly with the medical team.

This project sparked some excitement for Tanya and she made a courageous leap to quit her job and apply for a GP Pratice role where she felt her skills and experience would be well suited. After an interesting "speed dating" interview process, she was offered a job and hasn't looked back!

She completed her Practice Certificate in Independent Prescribing at the University of Reading in 2017. She has always been passionate about diabetes and wanted to work towards this speciality so she decided to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes at the University of South Wales, which she passed and finished this week!

She is also a registered as an Royal Pharmaceutical Society Mentor so please reach out to her if you need support.
