051 Ryan Smith

On today's episode I have the pleasure of introducing Ryan Smith to the podcast. Ryan is a jack of all trades and has several roles within pharmacy: Part-time Primary Care Network (PCN) Pharmacist, Clinical Director for MORPh Consultancy, and Clinical Director for The Pharmacist Network. He is passionate about the development of pharmacy practice, having held roles in both the commissioning and provision of services across primary care during his career. We discuss a variety of topics in today's episode with plenty of focus on mentorship, the value on completing a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), the benefit of regular reflection, and taking on roles outside of pharmacy as Ryan has experience as a healthcare development manager. MORPh is a pharmacist managed and pharmacist led organisation with approaching 20 years of experience in supporting pharmacy professionals working in primary care. Our approach is one of involvement, integration and participation, with learning being embedded into practice using a case based approach. The Pharmacist Network specialises in on-site and remote General Practice pharmacist and pharmacy technician services. Ryan's role involves employing and training pharmacists in General Practice and supporting medicines optimisation in the NHS.
