102 Amanda Cavness

Sometimes life thrusts us into roles that we never anticipated. This was certainly the case for this week’s guest, Amanda Cavness, a pharmacist whose journey took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, just three months shy of her graduation from pharmacy school. Join us as she opens up about her incredible journey, from battling cancer, nurturing her passion for paediatrics, to managing two residencies - all while making an impact in the international pharmacy arena through the International Pharmaceutical Student Federation (IPSF).

Amanda’s story is one of resilience and determination. Combining her personal experiences with her professional expertise, she provides an insightful perspective on the unique environment of paediatric hospitals and end-of-life care for children. Amanda has a rare ability to turn adversities into opportunities, as evident in her transition from a pharmacy technician to a pharmacist and her overcoming the challenge of securing two residencies. Her remarkable journey serves to inspire us all and sheds light on the competitive yet rewarding world of pharmacy residencies.

Amanda doesn’t stop there. She is continually pushing boundaries, whether it's finding a balance between her time commitments and professional responsibilities or being excited about traveling down under to Australia for the upcoming FIP Congress. As we wrap up, Amanda leaves us with a profound message - to go beyond our boundaries, seize every opportunity and make a difference in the world.
