159 Julie Doan

In this episode of the Pharmacist Diaries Podcast, I sit down with Julie Doan, a pharmacist and life coach with over a decade of experience in diverse healthcare settings. Julie’s journey began in acute and ambulatory care, telepharmacy, and as a clinical project manager overseeing the implementation of electronic prescribers at a tertiary care center. However, the stress of these demanding roles led her to seek tools for managing mental overload and burnout. This search introduced her to mindfulness meditation, thought work, and life coaching, which completely transformed her life.

Julie shares her inspiring story of transitioning from the traditional 9-to-5 hospital pharmacy role to a flexible career in telepharmacy, embracing preventative health and holistic well-being. Along the way, she battled imposter syndrome and self-doubt but discovered how to realign her professional life with her personal values. Julie is now a certified life coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF-ACC) and a meditation teacher, helping healthcare professionals find balance and resilience.

In this episode, we:

  1. Explore how to manage stress and professional burnout using mindfulness and life coaching techniques.

  2. Learn how Julie overcame self-doubt and carved a flexible, fulfilling career in telepharmacy and coaching.

  3. Understand the importance of aligning your work with your core values for long-term happiness and success.

  4. Explore practical strategies for handling imposter syndrome and cultivating mental well-being.

  5. Gain insight into Julie’s transition from traditional pharmacy roles to a flexible career that supports her passion for holistic health.

Whether you’re a healthcare professional navigating burnout or someone seeking a more balanced life, this episode offers invaluable insights into finding harmony in both career and personal fulfillment.
